How Nonprofit Storytelling Turned Play Into Purpose For The Louisiana Children's Museum
Client Overview
The Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM) is a cornerstone of learning and play in New Orleans, offering exhibits, programs, and events that inspire curiosity while teaching critical lessons about Louisiana’s culture and environment.
The Challenge
Despite the museum’s vibrant programming and events, their impact wasn’t being fully communicated. LCM staff knew that children were smiling, learning, and discovering every day, but funders and donors weren’t seeing that story. Without compelling nonprofit storytelling tools, their presentations and outreach materials struggled to capture the full scope of their mission.
In the world of philanthropy, a gap in storytelling often translates to a gap in support. LCM needed a way to vividly show impact and bring their mission to life for current and potential donors.
The Solution
LCM partnered with Comfy Stone, a New Orleans–based video agency specializing in nonprofit storytelling, to create a series of videos that would:
-
Showcase children’s joy and discovery in real time.
-
Highlight the educational value behind playful programs like Mud Fest, where kids learn about Southeast Louisiana’s wetlands and flood protection.
-
Provide flexible content that could be embedded into donor presentations, used in community outreach, and shared across digital platforms.
Our approach was rooted in mission-focused storytelling by capturing authentic moments that spoke directly to donors’ hearts and demonstrated the museum’s impact in action.

The Results
The videos produced for LCM became more than just marketing assets; they became powerful tools for donor cultivation and engagement.
-
Donor Presentations: Staff now embed short video clips into one-on-one meetings with funders, instantly bringing conversations to life.
-
Event Promotion: Instead of just describing programs, the museum can show them in action, making their impact more tangible.
-
Community Engagement: Parents and partners can see firsthand the joy and learning happening at LCM.
As Tifferney White, CEO of LCM, shared:
“Having these videos, having a consistent product that tells our story in an exciting, vivid, engaging, joyful way is very, very important to us. And it helps us to better reach that mission that we’re trying to reach.”

Why It Matters
This project demonstrates how video can close the gap between what an organization does and what supporters see. By turning moments of play into a compelling story, the Louisiana Children’s Museum now has a storytelling tool that builds trust, inspires action, and strengthens donor relationships.
In the competitive world of nonprofit fundraising and philanthropy, video is no longer optional; it’s essential.
